Iowa business editor dies

Mike Augspurger, the business editor of the Burlington Hawk Eye in Iowa, has died at the age of 52, according to an Associated Press story. He died on Monday.

The Hawk Eye is the oldest daily newspaper in the state.

The AP story stated, “Augspurger joined The Hawk Eye in 1994. After a brief retirement in 2004, he rejoined the Burlington newspaper in 2006. He also worked at the Ottumwa Courier and the Bloomfield Democrat.

“He received several awards for his work as a journalist.

“Augspurger also served as the mayor of Bloomfield in the mid-1980s.”
