Keith Girard of RIABiz.com remembers retired InvestmentNews publisher Bill Bisson, who died last month at the age of 70.
Girard writes, “He only insisted on one thing — the story had to be accurate.
“His publishing philosophy was unheard of at a time when financial service journalism rarely rocked the boat. Bill always put readers first and let the chips fall where they may.
“He knew, in the long run, that a publication’s success hinged on earning the readers’ trust. In the insular world of business-to-business journalism, His editorial and publishing philosophy is a rare commodity, even today.
“‘He was a great news buff. He loved news,’ Clowes says. ‘He read the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the Financial Times every day.'”
