The International Business Times has hired Eric Gonon as vice president of video production and strategy to expand its video content.
Gonon will be based out of IBT Media’s New York headquarters and will report directly to co-founder and chief content officer Johnathan Davis.
Gonon’s task is to develop a centralized video plan that can be applied to each of IBT Media’s brands as well as IBT Media on a corporate level. His goal is to aggressively grow daily audience by producing engaging editorial and native video with wide strategic distribution to enhance the brands.
“Eric brings a deep understanding of video consumption in our digital, mobile-centric world. He’s passionate about creating a video program that will offer a consistent, world-class experience to our audience,” said Davis in a statement. “This is a great opportunity to maximize exceptional storytelling with compelling video content.”
Gonon has handled video production for cable news channels, major magazines, websites and even an online auction house. He joins IBT Media from Auctionata AG where he served as senior vice president building, staffing and managing multi-hour, interactive live-streams of auctions. An award-winning journalist and programmer, Gonon has held positions at CNN, Bloomberg Businessweek, CNBC and NY1, among other outlets.
