Institutional Investor redesigns, adds new sections

Institutional Investor has rolled out a redesigned magazine with its March issue that includes new editorial sections.

“It’s a thorough revamping of the design and content of the magazine,” said editor Michael Carroll. “The goal is to enrich and enliven the experience of our readers by giving them a magazine that is cleaner, more creative and more capacious.”

The new sections include a new Opening section that features news and people items from the financial industry, a new Capital section that covers investment banks and exchanges, and a new Research section that looks at research teams and company rankings. In addition, the Investing section has been expanded to include regular coverage of alternative investments and wealth management.

The redesign, which uses more photographs and graphics, is the work of Tom Brown of Vancouver, Canada. Brown was previously involved in the redesigns of Men’s Journal, Field & Stream and Ski.

“We wanted a business magazine that would look like no other and yet remain firmly in the Institutional Investor tradition, and we think Tom has done just that,” said Carroll in a release.

In an editor’s note in the first redesigned issue, Carroll added, “In its early years, Institutional Investor liked to advertise that ‘good financial journalism doesn’t have to be dull.’ And that’s another thing that hasn’t changed: our commitment to in-depth reporting and analyses that inform and entertain.”
