Nicholas Carlson, global editor in chief of Business Insider and Insider, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
Team!I have some good news.
We’ve hired Eric Bates as an editor for Insider. His focus will be analysis: stories that answer big topical questions. They’ll come in feature form and shorter. Some will take days to produce, others, months.
This is very much an investment in our current and future writing staff, and Eric will work across the newsroom developing exciting pitches into even better stories. Eric will also work with his own team, which he’ll begin building as soon as he joins us in January.Eric was previously an executive editor for Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone, features editor for New York, and editor in chief of The New Republic. He’s earned many of the profession’s highest honors, including seven National Magazine Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing.
