Lesley Weidenbener, the executive editor of The Statehouse File and a veteran political reporter, has been hired as the managing editor of the Indianapolis Business Journal.
She’s scheduled to start Aug. 3.
Weidenbener replaces Cory Schouten, the current managing editor, who is leaving July 30 for the Knight-Bagehot fellowship at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Weidenbener manages TheStatehouseFile.com, a news website powered by Franklin College students. She has 23 years experience as a newspaper reporter and columnist, including nearly 20 years covering the Indiana Statehouse. Her time at the Hoosier capitol spans five governors, 20 regular legislative sessions and countless campaigns.
In addition to writing, Weidenbener also reports and voice radio stories, produce television segments for Indiana Lawmakers and appear regularly on public television’s Indiana Week in Review.
At Franklin College, She is also advisor to The Franklin, a student newspaper, and oversees the senior project experience for all broadcast and news students.
