Inc. workers are joining a union

The editorial staff at Inc. magazine is joining the Writers Guild of America East.

Its sister publication Fast Company voted to unionize with the Writers Guild of America back in 2018. The Fast Company video, events, social, and podcast teams are also now joining the union.

Both magazines are owned by Mansueto Ventures. Fast Company management recognized the union within two months after the workers voted to unionize.

The Writers Guild of America East is a labor union representing writers in motion pictures, television, news and digital media.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
