Duncan Weldon will be joining The Economist from next week, according to his tweet. He will be covering and writing about the British economy.
Weldon is a writer and broadcaster and specializes in economics, history, economic history and finance. He also has a book on the British economic history due early 2021.
Weldon was appointed as BBC Newsnight’s economics and business editor in 2014. Previously, he has also served as an advisor at Harriet Harman MP and as an economist at Trades Union Congress. Additionally, he is also known to have joined the Labor Party when he was 18.
According to reports, Weldon is a graduate of Oxford University where he wrote an article “I was a fascist” in which he described attending British National Party meetings and taking part in a “violent” demonstration against asylum seekers.
