Hooper promoted to LA editor for Mergermarket/Dealreporter

Troy Hooper has been promoted to Los Angeles editor for sector coverage at Mergermarket and Dealreporter.

He will be leading a team covering multiple sectors, with a focus on middle market companies based in Southern California.

Hooper has been a prolific producer of valuable Mergermarket and Dealreporter content, developing expertise in the technology, consumer, and health care information technology sectors, among others, and breaking many ECM scoops over the four years he has been with the company.

Hooper has been a senior reporter since July 2015.

Before that, Hooper worked for a number of publications, including 5280 magazine in Denver, Mountain iJournals, SF Weekly and the Colorado Independent.

He’s a graduate of University of California-Santa Barbara.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
