The Hollywood Reporter announced Thursday that New York bureau chief and business editor Georg Szalai has been named international business editor.
“‘I’m thrilled to take on a new role at THR as international business editor,’ says Szalai. ‘With entertainment companies continuing to look for growth opportunities in foreign markets, I’m excited to play a role in expanding our coverage around the world.’
“‘Georg is a first-rate business reporter whose breadth of knowledge and relationships on Wall Street remain an asset,’ says THR editorial director Janice Min. ‘In his new role, he’ll expand The Reporter‘s reach as the global market becomes increasingly important to Hollywood and the entertainment industry overall.’
“Szalai joined THR in 2001 as a business reporter, and was named business editor in 2003 and New York bureau chief in 2005. Since THR‘s revamp in 2010, Szalai has broken stories such as the cord-cutting debate, social gaming firm Zynga’s integration with entertainment companies and the profitability of premium TV’s Epix.”
