Hogan named Americas editor for The Economist

Emma Hogan

Emma Hogan has been named Americas editor for The Economist.

She will start her new position in early 2021.

Hogan is deputy briefings editor, working on long-form articles across the publication.

Previously, she was South-East Asia correspondent, Deputy Europe Editor and Britain correspondent. As a reporter, she has travelled to nearly two dozen countries writing about politics, social affairs and human rights. As deputy Europe editor she covered the 2015-16 refugee crisis, spending time in camps in Greece, with smugglers in Turkey and five days on a migrant rescue boat off the coast of Libya.

Hogan has appeared regularly on the BBC, Sky News, CNN and CNBC, while she has spoken on BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service and LBC Radio.
