OLD Media Moves

Globe and Mail to fold cannabis publication into paper

The Toronto Globe and Mail will fold the content of Report on Business Cannabis Professional into its regular business coverage, reports David Yasvinski of The GrowthOp.

Yasvinski reports, “‘Cannabis Professional will be discontinued as a stand-alone product as of Feb. 1, 2020,’ Lanna Crucefex, communications manager for TheGlobe and Mail, told The GrowthOp. ‘Instead, we will be integrating all our cannabis reporting into our award-winning Report on Business coverage.’

“Subscribers to Cannabis Professional, which launched in September 2018 to cover Canada’s rapidly expanding marijuana industry, can receive a prorated refund for the remaining portion of their subscription, according to a notice on the company’s website.

“The notice, written by Ian Portsmouth, director of Cannabis Professional, explains that the move was prompted by a reorganization of the newsroom and the increasing importance of cannabis coverage to readers of the Globe’s newspaper.”
