Shirin Ghaffary, a reporter for Recode, has been promoted to a senior reporter covering social media and big tech for the website.
She had been focusing on labor and tech.
Ghaffary is also associate producer and host on a new YouTube video series called “Above the Noise” funded by PBS Digital/KQED, the San Francisco Bay Area’s public media station
Ghaffary also worked for BuzzFeed News and Elementum, an enterprise software startup, and interned for the Wall Street Journal and TechCrunch.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, Ghaffary was raised in Silicon Valley next door to Apple headquarters, and attended Cal-Berkeley where she was executive news editor of the Daily Californian, the university paper.
