Peter Spiegel of the Financial Times is in talks to join the Washington Post, reports Ben Mullin of the New York Times.
He would oversee the Post’s national coverage, Mullin reports.
He has been U.S. managing editor of the Financial Times. He is slated to become the FT’s global affairs editor. In that role, he will write a new weekly column, as well as long reads on national security and what the Trump administration means for the world.
Spiegel has led FT’s news operations in the Americas, steering coverage and helping to expand FT’s subscriber base in the region. He previously ran editorial operations for FT as news editor, based out of London, and served as bureau chief in Brussels for six years.
In addition to the FT, he has worked at the Los Angeles Times, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.
