John Buysse has been hired by Fortune magazine as its audience engagement editor.
He will be based in Chicago starting next week.
Buysse was previously audience engagement editor from February 2017 to September 2017. He led the digital content distribution strategy across all channels and managed a team of two — social strategist and video producer — to engage and grow Fortune’s online audience and reach company-wide traffic and video goals.
He partnered with Fortune and Time news editors to set editorial strategy for Fortune.com and partnered with audience teams across Time Inc. to create a mutually beneficial relationship to share each other’s content to capitalize on the diverse audiences of Time Inc. brands.
Buysse, a University of Illinois graduate in advertising, previously worked for Ogilvy & Mather and on the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign.
