Former WSJ staffer joins The Washington Post

David Crawshaw

David Crawshaw, former deputy foreign editor for the Wall Street Journal, will join The Washington Post as the publication’s Asia-based news editor.

Crawshaw will be stationed in Hong Kong, where he’s been working for the WSJ.

Crawshaw joins Paul Schemm as The Post’s second foreign-desk editor overseas. Schemm is relocating from Africa to the Middle East. Together, the two will provide 24/7 editing capabilities to continue the publication’s dedication to timely, in-depth coverage to a global audience.

Crawshaw’s hiring is part of The Post’s larger effort to expand its foreign affairs coverage. Its reporting staff has grown to 29 reporters in 21 locations around the world to-date.

During his decade-long tenure at the WSJ, Crawshaw worked as a news editor in New York and London and as a real-time editor and deputy Asia business editor in Hong Kong. He began his career in Australia, including a stint as a political reporter based in Canberra for the Australian Associated Press.

He is a graduate of University of Queensland, Australia.
