Richard Fox, the first publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal when it launched in 1983, died Nov. 4 at the age of 67.
Sarah Meehan of the Journal writes, “Not long after he helped get the BBJ up and running in 1983, Fox suffered a heart attack at age 41. But within two years, he started running long distances. He completed 28 marathons, including multiple returns to the races in Boston, New York, and the Marine Corps Marathon, and was an active member of the Howard County Striders running club.
“Fox was publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal until 1987. In addition, Fox also held positions at Columbia Magazine, TV Guide Magazine, the Catholic Review, Patuxent Publishing, Circular Advertising and Arbitron Inc.
“He loved literature and was a crossword puzzle aficionado — he completed the puzzles daily in the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post — and woke up before dawn every day to read the news, his wife said.”
