FairWarning names assistant editor

FairWarning, a nonprofit online investigative news organization, has named veteran journalist Laurie Udesky an assistant editor as it continues to expand its coverage of safety and health issues facing consumers and workers.

Udesky has been a reporter and editor for more than 20 years, and has covered health, social welfare and labor topics for print, radio and online news outlets. She has worked as a foreign correspondent in Turkey and has been a contributor to National Public Radio, The New York Times, The Dallas Morning News, the Baltimore Sun, The Nation and Salon.com, among others.

“We’re delighted to welcome Laurie to our hard-working staff,” said Myron Levin, founder and editor of FairWarning. “We know she’ll be a great asset.”

FairWarning, which last month celebrated its one-year anniversary, publishes in-depth reports on its website and in print and online editions of media partners. Its original stories and commentaries have appeared in more than 20 newspapers, magazines and broadcast outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Mother Jones, The Orange County Register, The Oregonian, The Kansas City Star, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Support for FairWarning has been provided by the Charles Evans Foundation, the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, the Wyncote Foundation, the Public Welfare Foundation, The Renaissance Foundation and the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University.
