Business Insider executive editor Ashley Lutz has resigned from the website after six years to become editor in chief of Bankrate.com.
Lutz will also become a vice president at Bankrate’s parent company Red Ventures. She will start in July, be based in New York and will build an editorial team there.
She will also be working on content strategy across Bankrate’s brands such as TPG, CreditCards.com and NextAdvisor.
Lutz has been at Business Insider for six years.
“When I started here I was 24, had never left the country and was writing blog posts about celebrity plastic surgery,” wrote Lutz on Instagram. “I’m leaving as an executive who has managed teams and traveled the world.”
At Business Insider, Lutz also led its retail, transportation, and executive lifestyle teams. She joined Business Insider from Bloomberg and developed and wrote Business Insider’s “Ask the Insider” work-advice column.
“Ashley’s great,” said Business Insider founder Henry Blodget. “We wish her all the best.”
Lutz was the inaugural recipient of the Mark Pittman Investigative Reporting internship at Bloomberg during the summer of 2010 and split her time with the project and investigations and real estate teams.
Pittman was the Bloomberg News reporter who led its lawsuit against the Federal Reserve to disclose what Wall Street firms and banks it helped during the recent economic crisis. He died in 2009.
