Dow Jones CEO Lewis: I’m proud we’ve promoted female colleagues

Dow Jones & Co. CEO William Lewis sent the following note to the staff about his departure:

Hello,

I’m sad to let you know that, after six years as your CEO, it is time for me to move on.

This is an extraordinary time to be sharing the news — in the midst of a crisis — when my sole focus has been making sure that you and our business come through this in the absolute best shape. But I know that you are all more than ready and able to navigate through these difficult times.

My time at Dow Jones has, without doubt, been the best years of my career. You made me welcome from day one and, together, we have achieved so much.

I’m particularly proud of how we have been able to accelerate the careers of so many female colleagues at our company, the growth of PIB and our R&C business and, of course, our wonderful digital subscription growth — smashing our way through 3 million and on our way to 4 million subscribers.

But most of all, we learned to grow as a company again and I know your future is going to be better than ever.

This is the world’s most important media company — providing the facts people need in this age of misinformation — and it has been an honor to serve you.

I will continue to support our coronavirus response for the next month or so and a successor will be announced soon.

Thank you for everything
