Dow Jones bureau chief in Australia, New Zealand, gets new duties

Here is an announcement sent out Monday from Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson:

“We are delighted to announce that Iain McDonald, the Dow Jones Newswires bureau chief for Australia and New Zealand, will now also oversee The Wall Street Journal’s coverage needs in those countries. Iain and his extremely capable team of reporters and editors in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Perth and Wellington, will continue generating real-time coverage for Newswires readers in those countries and globally.

“In addition, they will now look for opportunities to tell business, political, cultural and general news stories for the Journal’s readership. Iain will report to Sumathi Vaidyanathan, Editor-Operations, Dow Jones Newswires, forAsia-Pacific, and he will work closely with the Journal’s Patrick Barta, the new Southeast Asia Bureau Chief, who is based in Bangkok.
