Donner, WSJ editor, leaves paper

Francesca Donner, an editor at the Wall Street Journal who had worked on special projects and management stories, has left the paper.

In an email to her colleagues, Donner wrote:

It may seem odd to depart the best party on earth (a.k.a. The Wall Street Journal newsroom) leaving a Slate article in my wake, but as I gather my things, this seems to sum everything up to a tee.

Donner had been focusing on digital strategy at The Journal. She also was deputy editor in The Journal’s management bureau. In that role she oversaw print and digital content tied to management, careers and business education. She worked with reporters on weekly stories (usually for @WSJ’s Marketplace section) as well as larger series. She also launched “At Work” — a digital-only section covering the job market, workplaces, management, education, career strategies and more.

Earlier, Donner was a online editor at Forbes where she was part of the team which developed and launched ForbesWoman – a magazine for executive and professional women.

In 2006, Donner joined the Journal — the first time — as community editor. She began her publishing career at GQ Magazine.

She is a graduate of Brown and Stanford universities as well as the Radcliffe (now Columbia) Publishing Course.
