DJ Newswires hires energy reporter

Ángel González, the Houston bureau chief of Dow Jones Newswires, made the following announcement on Monday afternoon:

I am pleased to announce that Ryan Dezember has joined Dow Jones Newswires as an energy reporter in the Houston bureau.

No stranger to the Gulf Coast, Ryan spent 8 years covering the tourism industry and coastal real estate for the Mobile Press-Register in Mobile, Alabama. His latest assignments involved chronicling the effects of the BP oil spill on the state’s pristine beaches; now he sits within driving distance of the building where BP’s exploration and production unit is headquartered.

A native of Cleveland, Ryan graduated from Kent State in Ohio. He joins the energy team at a time when the industry struggles with the onslaught of new oversight produced by the Deepwater Horizon incident, even as it plans for billions of dollars of investment needed to keep pace with the world’s unquenchable thirst for oil and gas.
