Former Detroit TV business editor dies of cancer

Former broadcast journalist Jennifer Moore, an award-winning business editor for WDIV-TV in Detroit, died Friday following a two-year battle with cancer.

Oralander Brand-Williams of the Detroit News writes, “Moore, the business editor at WDIV-TV, Channel 4, was one of the first women to cover the business, automotive and labor beats in Metro Detroit. She started her career at Channel 4 in 1979 and rose to business editor and news anchor.

“Moore’s colleagues say she developed a strong viewer following for nearly 20 years because of her dedication to and reputation for ‘getting the story right.’ She left WDIV in 2002 and began a media firm and later went to work at Ford Motor Co.’s media division.

“Moore was known for her hard-hitting but contextual reports on business, the automotive industry and its unions.

“Former WDIV anchor Mort Crim said, ‘Jennifer was a first class reporter for WDIV during my tenure there and also spent some time with me on the anchor desk. She was a superb journalist, a nice person, a wonderful mom and I’m proud to have been her friend,’ Crim wrote on Facebook today.
