Greg Kratz, the former business editor of the Deseret News who has been writing a weekly business column, is ending his column after 14 years.
Kratz writes, “For the last 14 years, a deadline for a new column has stared me in the face almost every week. I’ve written about random business occurrences, answered people’s personal finance questions and, most recently, focused on work-life balance.
“But now, exactly 18 years after my first day as a Deseret News employee, my byline will appear in the paper for the last time.
“The slightly OCD part of me appreciates the symmetry of that. But the rest of me is sad to witness the end of this part of my life.
“To be honest, I have seen this coming for several years. After all, the struggles of the news industry helped spur my decision to leave my full-time job as an editor in 2011 and see if I could build a life outside of journalism.”
