Deadline approaching for McGraw Fellowship in Business Journalism

CUNY GradCUNY GradThe deadline is approaching for fall applications for The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, a new initiative of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism designed to support ambitious coverage of critical issues related to U.S. business and the economy.

The Fellowships provide up to $15,000 to  experienced journalists to do the deep reporting needed to produce a distinguished investigative, enterprise or narrative business story.

Here are the details:

  • Each Fellow receives $5,000 a month for up to three months
  • Open to both freelance and staff journalists with five years experience
  • No residency required; McGraw Fellows work from their own offices
  • The McGraw Center provides editorial support and help with placement where needed

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
