The Crunchbase News team is an editorially independent newsroom within Crunchbase that reports on private companies, venture capital and startups for a growing audience of entrepreneurs, executives, investors, market researchers and salespeople. All of our journalism is informed by Crunchbase’s world-class data and our own original reporting.
What You’ll Do
- Report and write multiple original, enterprise stories and analyses per week for our audience, alongside several longer reports throughout the year and some shorter daily briefs and quick hits as needed
- Take ownership of your beats and become a subject-matter expert through deliberate source-building and research
- Use Crunchbase data to inform and enhance your writing and reporting
- Work closely with editors and other reporters to guide and improve Crunchbase News’ coverage of venture-backed private companies
What We’re Looking For
- 2-4 years of experience as a beat reporter in a newsroom, a passion for original journalism and a track record of enterprise reporting, as demonstrated with reporting clips
- Someone with a true passion for telling stories and connecting with people — who enjoys asking questions and understanding sophisticated issues to make them accessible to our readers
- Bonus points for experience in financial/business journalism and existing sources and contacts in the startup and VC world
- The ability to work with numbers and analyze large data sets and a strong desire to continue improving your data-reporting skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform under pressure, meet competing deadlines and prioritize and deliver multiple assignments
- A team-oriented person who likes to work collaboratively and is willing to be part of a majority-remote team
- Someone who is ready to take their career to the next level with a crew of journalists dedicated to editorial integrity and fact-based reporting and analysis
