Crain’s Cleveland publisher resigns after exposure conviction

John Campanelli, the embattled publisher of Crain’s Cleveland Business, announced he will resign effective April 1, reports Robert Higgs of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Higgs writes, “Campanelli, 46, of Hudson, this month was sentenced to 30 days of house arrest stemming from an incident in which he exposed himself to a newspaper deliverywoman. Stow Municipal Judge Kim Hoover also ordered he pay a $250 fine.

“Campanelli posted a message on Facebook and Twitter announcing his decision to step down.

“‘It’s been an honor to serve as the publisher of Crain’s Cleveland Business,’ Campanelli wrote in the message. ‘I don’t want the mistakes I’ve made to interfere with Crain’s continued success or to lessen the respect Crain’s enjoys in the region’s business community.’

Crain’s announced Thursday that Campanelli will be replaced by Elizabeth McIntyre, the business publication’s editor who had been filling in as acting publisher.”
