Harel Amsalem profiles San Diego Union-Tribune business reporter Jonathan Horn and his ability to find stories beneath the surface.
Amsalem writes, “Horn said there are certain stories that he enjoys reporting.
“‘A lot of the ones that stuck with me are the ones where you tell the story of people,’ Horn said.
“The recent economic downturn provided the opportunity for writing such stories.
“‘For instance someone with a college degree is working at a Wal-Mart for $10 an hour. Usually I can find those people and talk about where they were and where they are now and how they can better their situation.’
“Other stories that Horn works on are those that are driven by his curiosity and creativity.”
