In a bid to counteract the new web sites from Yahoo Finance and CNBC, CNNMoney.com rolled out its updated web site on Wednesday with a number of new features.
The new site features include live streaming stock quotes that update automatically, without requiring a manual browser refresh. A personalization module on the homepage will track the last 10 stock quotes checked – or, a registered user’s portfolio – with live quotes and a continuous live stream of company-specific news from CNNMoney.com sources and more than 100 external news feeds.
The stock quote page itself has also been revamped to allow single-click access to added financial indicators and will provide more news about companies than any other stock quote on the Internet.
A new portfolio tracker allows individuals to track the net asset value of their holdings on a tick-by-tick basis. Users will have the ability to subscribe to a broad array of targeted email alerts about companies, industries and other subject matters.
The enhanced site will also include more broadcast-quality video from CNN and frequently updated blogs from over a dozen well-known writers from Fortune and Business 2.0.
“The combination of these new applications and content offerings further strengthens our position as the most comprehensive web resource in the business community, said Vivek Shah, president of digital publishing, Time Inc. Business & Finance Network.
