CNBC's Kudlow criticized for earthquake remark

CNBC anchor Larry Kudlow is being criticized for noting that the human impact of the Japanese earthquake is going to be worse than the economic impact.

Kimberly Nordyke of the Hollywood Reporter writes, “Taking a look at the U.S. markets following Friday’s quake, Kudlow said: ‘The human toll here looks to be much worse than the economic toll, and we can be grateful for that.’

“Kudlow made his statement while a graphic displayed at the bottom of the screen informing viewers that more than 300 people are dead and more than 500 missing because of the earthquake.

“Perhaps realizing his gaffe, he then quickly added: ‘The human toll is a tragedy; we know that. But these markets, all these markets — stocks, commodities, oil, gold — there is no major breakout or breakdown.'”
