Jennifer Barrett has joined CNBC Digital as its new personal finance and consumer news editor.
She brings close to two decades of journalism experience, including a prior stint at NBC as editorial director of iVillage Health.
Barrett joins CNBC from DailyWorth, a personal finance site aimed at women, where as senior vice president and editor-in-chief she led the start-up’s massive growth over the past two years. Previously, she oversaw digital strategy for several of Hearst’s sites, including Cosmopolitan, Redbook and Seventeen. She started her career as a beat reporter for the Arizona Republic, before joining Newsweek, where she worked for seven years, covering business and health.
Her first day was Wednesday and she reports to Jeff Nash, CNBC Digital deputy managing editor, enterprise.
In addition, Mary Stevens is a new associate producer for CNBC Digital Video, and she will be producing, editing and shooting for CNBC’s online video operation.
Stevens comes to CNBC from The Denver Post where she was a videographer and still photographer. She produced numerous video pieces with a narrative and interview-driven style that resonated with its digital audiences.
Prior to her work with The Denver Post, Stevens began her media career as an intern with the original video team at CNN Digital. A North Carolina native, Stevens graduated from the journalism school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has spent the subsequent four years developing her skills as a shooter and producer.
She started Monday and reports to Mike Senzon, executive producer, CNBC Digital Video.
