CNBC.com hires Silicon Valley Biz Journal’s Elias to cover tech

Jennifer Elias

CNBC.com managing editor Jeffrey McCracken sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

I am pleased to announce Jennifer Elias is joining the CNBC.com newsroom as a staff reporter based in San Francisco. Her focus will be Alphabet — all the billions of dollars pouring into that company and all the money it spends on everything from driverless vehicles to data centers to user protection.

Jennifer spent the past three years covering technology at the Silicon Valley Business Journal. She focused on executive moves, workforce issues and culture at the biggest publicly held tech companies. Among her top stories were pieces on LeEco’s internal downfall, ripple effects of a Google engineer’s viral memo and Amazon’s secretive Santa Cruz offices.

Prior to working at the Silicon Valley Business Journal, she freelanced for FastCompany.com and Forbes.com and took occasional assignments for Bloomberg, The Hollywood Reporter and ESPN.

Jennifer graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in journalism. While in school, the San Jose native started a Bay Area arts quarterly called Helium Magazine.

When not working, Jennifer can be found hiking, playing volleyball and petting unsuspecting dogs. Please welcome her to our newsroom when she joins CNBC.com later this month.
