BuzzFeed hires Tiku to cover tech news

BuzzFeed has hired Nitasha Tiku from The Verge to cover tech news from its San Francisco bureau.

Alyson Shontell of Business Insider writes, “Tiku tells Business Insider why she’s banking on BuzzFeed:

“‘It wasn’t about leaving the Verge. I adored my colleagues and editors there and benefitted from their generosity and patience,’ Tiku told Business Insider.

I moved here from New York a year ago because covering Silicon Valley, the ascendancy of the tech industry, and its impact on culture and society is the most engrossing reporting opportunity I’ve faced in the years I’ve spent on this beat. There’s genuine curiosity, confusion, and anxiety about what’s happening here from people who have never heard of Techmeme and aren’t (yet) on a first name basis with Elon Musk.
