Business Insider to launch in South Africa next year

Media24, South Africa’s largest media company, and Business Insider announced on Thursday that they would launch Business Insider South Africa in February 2018.

Business Insider has 14 international editions in countries such as India, Australia and Poland.

The Business Insider network reaches over 120 million unique monthly visitors and is aimed at the next generation of business leaders.

“We’re thrilled to launch Business Insider South Africa as our latest international site,” said Henry Blodget, CEO and editorial director of Business Insider Inc., in a statement. “Media24 has a deep understanding of business media – and the digital space – so it’s the perfect partner to bring Business Insider’s groundbreaking style of business news coverage to South Africa.”

Business Insider South Africa will be published by 24.com, Media24’s digital division.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
