Business Insider South Africa becomes No. 3 biz news site in country

Business Insider South Africa has become the third largest financial website and one of the top 25 websites in the country after launching in February.

In March, the site had 1.4 million unique visitors and generated more than 4.2 million page views, according to Effective Measure.

Launched in partnership with Media24, Business Insider South Africa is led by editor Helena Wasserman, who has more than 20 years’ experience on some of the country’s leading business titles, including Finweek, Fin24 and Sake24.

Since its launch, the website has covered local corporate drama, investment research, career advancement, business opportunities, drones, and cycling, as well as finding the best chicken wings and takeaway coffees.

Business Insider is one of the fastest-growing news platforms in the world, with more than 350 million users worldwide.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
