Business Insider promotes editors, hires staff

Business Insider has made a number of promotions and hires in recent weeks, according to executive editor Jay Yarow.

Myles Udland is taking over as global markets editor. Udland joined Business Insider in May 2014.

“He’s proven himself to be an incredible talent,” said Yarow. “He’s fast, smart, and really understands what we do. We couldn’t be happier with his success at the company. We plan to add more folks to Myles’ staff, so if you’re interested in joining the best Markets team in the world, let us know.”

Brett Logiurato has been promoted from politics editor to deputy editor overseeing politics, news, sports, and military/defense coverage. Prior to this promotion, Logiurato ran the politics section.

“He’s done a great job leading the politics coverage through a truly unique presidential election cycle,” said Yarow. “We’re confident he’s going to do a great job with an expanded portfolio.

Colin Campbell has been promoted to take over the politics section from Logiurato. “Colin has been on fire covering politics,” said Yarow. “He can spot a great story and will be a tremendous editor helping to take our political coverage to the next level.”

Natasha Bertrand is being promoted to breaking news editor. “Natasha is one of our many frighteningly young bright stars,” said Yarow. “She’s fast, smart, and fearless. She’ll make sure we never miss a single major story.

Senior editor Erin Fuchs is being given a new challenge, added Yarow.  “In addition to managing our news group, she’s going to be leading the expansion of feature writing at Business Insider,” he said. “Erin is a talented, trustworthy editor. She’s going to help expand Business Insider’s original reporting efforts to land bigger stories chasing bigger ideas that have a broader impact.”

Jacqui Kenyon is now syndication editor, strategy. Kenyon joined Business Insider’s syndication team in February 2014, and last year focused her efforts on setting up partnerships for the strategy team as an associate syndication editor.

“Her tireless work elevating the contributors network for the strategy, careers, and personal finance verticals has brought a new depth of coverage and new voices to the site,” said Yarow.

Business Insider has also hired Kif Leswing, who has written for GigaOm and Fortune, to cover technology, with a focus on Apple. And it has hired Dan Turkel, who was an intern but has been added full time to focus on news and the front page.

Another former intern, Bob Bryan, has been hired as a full-time reporter on the markets team.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
