Business Insider hires Oran from Reuters to be a senior editor

Nicholas Carlson, global editor in chief and chief content officer at Business Insider, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

Under the leadership of Mo Hadi and Matt Turner, Business Insider’s finance and markets team is now recognized as one of best in the industry.

Today it’s getting even stronger.

That’s because Olivia Oran will be joining us as Senior Editor. She will lead a team of reporters covering the financial industry.

This hire reflects a continuing investment in Prime, our subscription service for readers who want the world’s best reporting from inside the companies they care about.

Olivia comes to us from Reuters, where she was a team leader for their banking coverage. Before that, Olivia was an M&A reporter known for breaking big stories. In 2012, her work covering the Facebook IPO was nominated for a Loeb Award.

Olivia starts April 16. Can’t wait!

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
