Business Insider hires Dawson as senior editor for retail

Gloria Dawson

Business Insider has hired Gloria Dawson to be a senior editor overseeing its retail coverage.

She started this week.

Dawson previously was a senior editor at Nation’s Restaurant News, where she wrote and edited breaking news and feature stories. She also worked for sister publications Restaurant Hospitality and Supermarket News.

She has also been a freelance writer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Columbia Journalism Review, Mashable, Edible Manhattan, New York Press, Robb Report, Shape Magazine, AOL, Modern Farmer, Nautilus and Uncubed.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
