Business Insider hires Bloomberg’s Campbell, Newsweek’s Haltiwanger

Alyson Shontell, the U.S. editor in chief at Business Insider, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday afternoon:

Hi everyone,

The Business Insider newsroom is about to get stacked.

Dakin Campbell, one of the best finance reporters in the world, is joining us from Bloomberg. He spent a decade there covering Goldman Sachs and investment banking.

He wrote an excellent cover story on Lloyd Blankfein, scooped Dina Powell’s return, and recently penned a 4,200-word feature on Wall Street’s technological arms race.

He’ll join Matt Turner‘s team and work with Olivia Oran on must-read prime stories from inside Wall Street. Olivia starts on Monday from Reuters. Dakin will join on April 23.

Additionally, Newsweek’s John Haltiwanger will be our new military and defense reporter, where he’ll help satisfy our readers’ insatiable appetite for geopolitics and breaking news.

Rachel Premack will work with Libby Kane and Rachel Gillett as a careers reporter. She spent the last year freelancing in Seoul for Forbes, The Washington Post, Vice, Quartz and others.

Finally, Hillary Hoffower is joining Lauren Lyons Cole‘s team as a Your Money reporter. She was formerly the associate editor of a yacht publication, Dockwalk.

The hiring is just getting started. This quarter we’ll be adding a few more prime reporters as well as ten people for Ashley Lutz’s team.

If you know a talented reporter who would be great for Business Insider, please ping Lyndsay Hemphill with recommendations. She’ll send a reminder about how our referral bonus program works.

It’s incredible to be a growing media organization in light of the tough environment, and it’s a testament to all of your hard work.
