Bloomberg TV makes push on video creation

Al Mayers, global head of Bloomberg Television and Radio, send out the following message to the staff on Monday:

Each week this note talks about “TV and radio,” but what we’re really talking about is “video and audio.” Out globe-spanning team produces more than 130 hours of live video every week, as well as prerecorded stories and shows that leverage Bloomberg’s strengths and amplify our brand. Much of this originates from TV, but it’s really for all our platforms. With this in mind, I’m pleased to announce some exciting staffing changes that will enhance our storytelling and maximize the power of One Bloomberg.

To serve the network better, we’re forming a new creative production team of video and graphic experts. Under Lauren Roberts, Bryan Rose will lead the U.S. group, while Josh Collins will oversee EMEA and Asia. We’re also creating a new cross-platform content team tasked with creating and curating the best video for distribution across all of Bloomberg’s properties. Led by Jan Simmonds, Charlotte Cullinan, Kevin Heinz, Seth Magalaner and Mike Pisiona will work together to drive the initiative.

These moves will necessitate some changes in our daily operations as well. Clea Simos is stepping up into Jan’s previous role as U.S. managing editor, while Zaheed Essack and Laura Madden will join the U.S. assignment desk as producers. Stefanie Spitz and Matthew Leuzzi will be team leaders of the daily content production teams, while Michelle Antwi, joining us from client services, becomes leader of the content operations team, reporting to Mark Morison.

We are also delighted to announce that some of our contract workers will be joining us full-time, including Josh Collins, whom we previously mentioned in this note. Joining him are Faith Isbell and Veronica Graff as production assistants in New York and Ariel Agami as Bloomberg Businessweek YouTube producer.

Congratulations to everyone on these changes, which will take effect over the next few weeks. We’re looking forward to taking things to the next level in 2021.
