Bloomberg Media revenue growth was 50 percent in 2021

Bloomberg Media CEO Justin Smith sent the following to the staff:

Colleagues,

What an incredible year of growth it has been.

You’ve heard me talk a lot about our 50% revenue growth in 2021 – far more than we’ve ever achieved and ahead of most of the industry. But what’s most important is what that growth represents. It’s the sum of your non-stop hustle, innovation, strategic thinking, and commitment to what Mike Bloomberg calls “getting things done.” It’s the result of your savvy and resilience in navigating upheaval. It’s the validation of our strategy of pivoting Bloomberg Media to the fastest-growing segments in the industry. It’s consumers, advertisers, and partners recognizing the value of our journalism.

We also grew as a team. We’ve begun to put the culture commitments into practice. We adapted to hybrid work, getting the benefit of collaborating in the office while also spending a bit more time at home. We launched new training programs to help you grow. And our capabilities have grown. Our organization is increasingly focused on digital. We’ve hired data experts, world-class engineers, and digital video gurus.

But there is still so much growth ahead of us in 2022.

Across our businesses, we’ll also grow our offerings, adding new franchises, geographies, and events to win more audience, subscribers, and advertisers.

As we move into 2022, I’d encourage you to take some time to rest and reflect over the next two weeks. Whether you’re taking T days or not, you’ve earned a break. I’m unplugging to spend time with family the end of this week and next, and I hope you’ll do the same.

I’m so proud of what we achieved together this year. I hope you are too. We’re set up for an incredible year ahead.
