Gabriel Snyder, who was hired by Bloomberg Media in March to boost its digital efforts, has resigned to become editor of The New Republic, according to media reports.
Snyder is a former editor in chief of The Wire, a website owned by Atlantic Media, and was chief content officer of Inside.com, a mobile news start-up founded by the web entrepreneur Jason Calacanis.
He previously edited Gawker and the website of Newsweek.
Snyder was also a senior writer for Variety and W Magazine, and he worked for US Weekly and The New York Observer. He is a Yale University graduate.
