Bloomberg Law has hired Politico editor John Lauinger to be a senior editor on the labor and employment team.
He will start his new job later this month.
Lauinger has been at Politico since April 2016. He was senior night editor for Politico Pro during the 2016 campaign, editing across policy verticals and anchoring the Morning Agriculture and Morning Technology newsletters. He edited Pro’s Transition 2017 newsletter before taking on his current assignment as deputy editor of agriculture and trade.
Prior to moving to Washington, D.C., Lauinger worked at the New York Daily News for a decade, serving stints as breaking news editor, night editor, transit editor, morning assignment editor, deputy political editor and associate editor.
Before turning to editing, he reported on crime, working out of the paper’s New York Police Department headquarters bureau, where his assignments took him to every neighborhood in New York City.
