I’m excited to announce that Emma Court will be joining Bloomberg News’s health team in New York.
Emma comes to us from Business Insider, where as their senior health reporter she’s broken scoops and reported rich pieces of news enterprise about the intersection of medical innovation, new business models and the financing of care. We’ve read her work on patients trying to get insurers to cover costly gene therapies, accusations of price-fixing in the generic drug industry, and tensions at the prescription-drug startup Hims, and we’re thrilled to have her working with us.
We had an incredibly rich pool of candidates for this job, and one of our guiding principles while hiring has been to let talent, ideas and ambition lead our decision. During her interview, Emma came to us not just with an understanding of what the job at Bloomberg could be, but also a thorough list of stories we knew we wanted to tell about how health care is changing.
We expect Emma to contribute to our growing suite of editorial products collected under the Prognosis banner, including our podcast, our newsletter, Businessweek and our award-winning journalism for Bloomberg’s Terminal and online readers. She’ll work with our outstanding team of editors and reporters on the biggest stories at the intersection of health care and business, and to develop new lines of exclusive reporting that no other publication has.
Emma starts with us next week and we can’t wait to publish her first byline with Bloomberg.
