Bloomberg’s editorial content now has 100 million readers, listeners and viewers across the globe, deputy editor in chief Reto Gregori said in a town hall meeting on Tuesday.

That includes the more than 360,000 web subscribers that Bloomberg ended the year with, as well as from Apple News, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others.

“Which is pretty cool, and we should use that to ask for interviews,” said Gregori during the meeting, an audio of which was provided to Talking Biz News. “…If you can talk to an audience of 100 million, it might be worth it.”

Gregori also said that readership in January 2022 was flat compared to a year ago, which he called a win for the news organization because of the high readership during and after the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. “So we had tons of readership then,” said Gregori.

Gregori noted that in the middle of 2021, the company was not happy with its readership and usage, so it made changes, which he did not disclose.

But in the fourth quarter, the average number of “good users” of the Bloomberg terminal jumped 4 percent to more than 260,000.  Story clicks were also up 4 percent.

“We think we’re on the right track,” he said. “The trend also continued in January” when terminal usage was up 2 percent.
