Stephanie Flanders, senior executive editor for economics and head of Bloomberg Economics, and Tom Orlik, chief economist of Bloomberg Economics, sent out the following to the staff:
Colleagues,
Tom Orlik and I are delighted to announce two new additions to Bloomberg Economics, both highly respected figures in the world of economics and finance.
First, David Wilcox – formerly the Director of the Division of Research and Statistics at the Federal Reserve Board and advisor to Fed Chairs from Ben Bernanke to Janet Yellen and Jerome Powell – has this week joined the team as Director of U.S. Economic Research.
We plan on David playing a critical role in shaping our analysis of the U.S. economy, adding to the existing strength of our U.S. team, and supporting our new Chief U.S. Economist when they come on board. Reporting to Tom, he will mainly work out of the DC Bureau and will also retain an affiliation to the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
In addition, Bill Dudley – former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Vice Chair of the FOMC – has agreed to serve as Senior Advisor to Bloomberg Economics, sharing his deep policy and market expertise to strengthen our global coverage of monetary policy and especially the interplay between the economy, policy and the financial markets. He will do this in addition to his existing role as a columnist for Bloomberg Opinion.
Please join us in welcoming both of these distinguished economists to Bloomberg.
