Selix joined the Pioneer Press in 1994 and has worked in a variety of reporting and editing positions. Her stories have covered such topics as the impact of domestic violence on the workplace and what area companies are doing about it, resilience training, ergonomics protection in Minnesota, life after layoffs, dealing with racism in the workplace, and job prospects for college students.

In her 26 years in journalism in Indiana, Texas, and Minnesota, Selix pushed for better working conditions for women and parents in her industry. She co-founded the Texas-based Association of Women Journalists in 1988. She also was an editor and managing editor at two suburban Dallas-Fort Worth dailies in the early 1980s.
