Paige Yowell, the retail reporter at the Omaha World-Herald, is leaving the paper for a job in Colorado.
Yowell is becoming a reporter at Westword, the alternative weekly in Denver. She starts there on Sept. 4.
Since the beginning of the year, the Omaha paper has laid off two reporters and cut its standalone business section. Another business reporter who covered the food and farm beat left for a job at the University of Nebraska.
Yowell covered retailing, from local boutiques to Fortune 1000 companies. She also kept tabs on retail development and trends. She had been at the World-Herald since September 2013.
She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and interned for Silicon Prairie News covering technology before joining the World-Herald.
