Billboard has hired Law360 editor at large Bill Donahue as a senior legal correspondent.
He started Monday and is covering music lawsuits, streaming royalties, and top music business attorneys.
At Law360, he wrote about intellectual property, technology and media, dissecting the legal complexities at a key intersection of the information economy. In addition to reporting, Donahue was also the co-host of Law360’s popular “Pro Say” podcast, a weekly conversation in which he and his co-hosts breakdown the biggest — and some of the weirdest — legal stories of the week.
Donahue has nearly a decade of experience covering big developments in the law, dating from Apple’s smartphone patent war against Samsung to Google’s epic copyright fight with Oracle to the Washington Redskins’ long fight over trademarks. He’s also written about trends in the legal industry itself, like his early reporting on the growth of cannabis law firms.
